The reasons for the acquisition are muddled (and short-sighted at best), making it a foolhardy acquisition for Facebook, destined to join Skype (eBay), Blo.gs (Yahoo) and Friend Connect (Google) in the pantheon of failed Web 2.0 acquisitions.

Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter give you the chance to make priceless career-enhancing contacts. They also give you the chance to sabotage yourself in a big way. Try to avoid that.

  • Re: Sharpe Family of West Branch
That just may be the Mary A I have been looking for. Do you know if they had James L Sharpe as one of their children also? I can go back a long way on the Sharpe side but end up at Mary A. Feel free to email me directly if you want. cliffmaur@aol.com

  • Re: Sharpe Family of West Branch
David Vanburen Sharpe was married to Mary Elizabeth Milligan 12-24-1878. He was the son of Stephen Sharpe and Mary Ann Harper. David and Mary would be my grandmothers (Anna Luella Sharpe Smith) parents. I have more info on the Sharpe's and Smith's.
  • Re: Sharpe Family of West Branch
I have a Charles Sharpe, b. 1877, married to Florence Hawley, but I have no parents or siblings. He lived in Wooler, Northumberland Township, Ontario.

  • Re: Sharpe Family of West Branch
I believe that Elizabeth Sharpe Nesbitt is the daughter of Stephen and Mary Ann Sharpe as the 1880 census shows her to be living in Arcadia, Lapeer, Michigan and to be 16 years of age making her year of birth to be in 1864. Other siblings are David, my great grandfather, James, Carrie, Nettie, Cassie, and Wilbert.
  • Re: Sharpe Family of West Branch
My great-great frandfather was David VAnBuren Sharpe, born 1854 in Northumberland, Ont. Canada. He married Mary Elizabeth Milligan and they had four children, Ethel Maude, Anna L. (My Grandmother), Agnes and Kenneth. They lived in West Branch. Maude was married to Justin Franklin (Frank) Ormerod. Anna was married to William J. Smith. Agnes was unmarried and Kenneth married Marion Robinson. I am not sure if there is a connection to your family or not as I do not know who g-grandpa David's siblings were.
  • Re: Sharpe Family of West Branch
My great-grandmother's maiden name was Sharpe (Lillie). She was born in 1873 in Northumberland County, died in 1973 and is buried in Wooler, Ontario. Not sure what her parents names were but would love some information if you have it.

I find two obits for Justice Nelson Sharpe in my files--and a brief article about a house party for Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Myers of Germantown with Nelson, Leo & Alberta Sharpe in attendance. Let me know if you would like copies. Grace, RC Hist. Soc.
  • Sharpe Family of West Branch
Seek any info on the Sharpe family, specifically would like ancestry of Nelson Sharpe (1858-1935) and Stephen Sharpe (c1832-1910). I understand both men came from Northumberland County, Ontario.

I am working on a Sharp family genealogy and may have info to share.
  • Re: Abbe Reed? Prescott Saw Mill
Obviously this is an old thread, but if Roianne or her relatives are still around, I think I've found Abbe's death certificate at SeekingMichigan.org. David Absolom Reed died 15 Jan 1909 in Clayton Twp., Arenac Co., with cause of death listed as "hemorrhage from (illegible--femoral something, maybe?) severed by contact with a circular saw."

    The file is here: http://seekingmichigan.org/u?/p129401coll7,320269

Abbe's sister Melisa Reed Williams was my G-G-G-grandmother, and I remembered the rather unusual cause of death.
  • Re: Abbe Reed? Prescott Saw Mill
What is your LeGree connection? Were they living in NY?
    Linda.
  • Re: Abbe Reed? Prescott Saw Mill
Hello Roianne, Robert McLaren and his wife Pearl were the grandparents of my boyfriend. They had a farm in Clio, Michigan. I have just started researching the McLaren line. My boyfriend tells me that they are both buried in Cearn Cemetery along with several other McLarens. I have quite a lot of information in the McLaren line, please email me at y2bonnie@ohiohills.com so that we might compare notes
  • Abbe Reed? Prescott Saw Mill
I am searching for information on my GG Grandfather Abbe Reed. He died in 1909 at the Prescott Saw mill, due to a pracitcal joke some one played on him. They turned on a circular saw he was working on and it cut off his leg. He bled to death before he could get medical attention. He was married to Clara Amelia Cunningham. They had 4 children Ralph, Hazel, Pearl, and Ruby. Thanks
    Roianne

  • Re: Edward Henry Kelly
We have searched our records and the only Kelly in Edwards Twp. Cemetery is a Micheal Lawrence Kelly B. 2-15-1958 d.4-4-1977. I would check in Gladwin Co. Edward was 73 yr. old and living with a brother-in-law in 1930 and Ina was 62 yrs. old they may be buried in one of the Gladwin Cem. Their records may be in that county. Sorry we could not help.

For Henry WINTER, age 85, of West Branch, who died 22 Sep 1955. His wife's name was Matilda.
    Many thanks.
  • Obit lookup request
I would very much appreciate a lookup of the obituary of William WINTERS, who died 3 May 1923. I was told that this appeared in the 10 May 1923 issue of the Ogenaw County Herald Times, page 1, column 3.
    Many thanks.
