Apple’s obsession with its own image makes great products look even more glamorous.

Just about every retailer knows that the day after Thanksgiving, or Black Friday, is the day to get more deal-seeking customers into stores. Now hotels are getting in on the action, too. Ten years ago my dining room table was piled high with cardboard folders, stuffed with glossy photos and reams of paper hyping new lifts, snowmaking systems and incredible ski and stay packages, along with eye numbing facts and figures. If I needed one of those facts, like the vertical drop of a mountain while writing a ski column at three in the morning, chances were good that I wouldn’t be able to find the information. Chances were also good that most of the information would never be read. In the spring my wife would get her table back when the collection found its way into the recycling bucket. Each autumn, the table took on its supporting role in my career.

The flash drive press kits have the advantage of being reusable as flash drives. My collection no longer gets thrown away at the end of the season and the dining room table is now used for dining, year round. Isn’t technology grand?
