Barack Obama is a master at grabbing and keeping his audience's attention, which is the number one goal of any public speaker. How does he do it? Here are five key lessons from Obama's rhetorical playbook.

Spending on advertising is a lagging indicator for economic recovery. Companies tend to set their budgets on annual cycles, pegging their adspend to a percentage of sales. Even the most nimble of advertisers only adjusts their advertising on a quarterly basis. So any sign of an uptick in the revenues of advertising agency holding companies could mean that the recession -- at least financially -- is over. (Jobs, of course, are another thing.) That sign has arrived.

Hang onto this essential checklist, so you’ll know what to do when the time comes.

  • Kleebaum roots
My name is Jana Zentowski and I am the granddaughter of Irma Kleebaum. She was born in Maleowanke / Ukraine (sounds quite different) in 1930. Her own father's name was August Kleebaum. She married my gradfather Leo Zentowski in 1957 in Kasachstan/Russia and that is why her name is Zentowski, too.

If one of the Kleebaums read this message I would be very glad to hear from you: Jana.Zentowski@gmx.de

    Kind regards, Jana
  • Searching for Silas/Elias F McLellan, b 1822/1823, somewhere in Nova Scotia
I'm looking for information my G-g grandfather, Silas / Elias F. McLellan, born somewhere in Nova Scotia, Canada; the names and birth-marriage-death dates of any siblings Silas may have had; his parents names and their birth-marriage-death dates; both were born in Nova Scotia; the names and birth-marriage-death dates of any siblings they may have had; and the same for Silas' grandparents.

In 1822 / 23, Silas was born in Nova Scotia, Canada. The 1861 Census of Canada shows Silas living in Cumberland, Nova Scotia. He married Sarah Bent (b 22 Oct 1824 in Nova Scotia; d 25 Nov 1907, Los Angeles, California, USA), (best guesstimate, between Jan 1852 to Jan 1854) possibly in Amherst, Nova Scotia. They had 4 children, all allegedly born in Amherst, Nova Scotia: Ezra Wiggins McLellan (b 29 Aug 1854; d 28 Apr 1925; m Lizzie Augusta Read, 12 Mar 1879, San Jose, CA, USA); Fred Robert McLellan (b Apr 1856; d. ?, San Bernardino County, CA, USA; married Clara Haskell, 1878, San Jose, CA, USA); Bessie L. McLellan (b 21 Aug 1858; d 9 Apr 1937, Salinas, CA, USA; m Frank Morris, 1891), and Hedley Shafter McLellan (b 2 Jan 1861; d 29 Jan 1929, either in Los Angeles, CA, USA or Ottawa, Canada). Silas may have had a brother named George O. McLellan. Between 1864 and 1867, the entire McLellan family moved from Nova Scotia to San Jose, Santa Clara County, CA, USA.In the 1870 US Fed Census, Silas states both of his parents were born in Nova Scotia.

What little information I have comes primarily from brief notes I found written by my grandmother. Most of that information is confirmed on Ancestry.com. No matter which genealogy website I've gone to to try to learn more, I've thus far been unable to get beyond the information stated above. Thanks in advance for any additional information you might be able to provide.

What little information I have, I've put together from sketchy notes I found, written years ago by my grandmother. Most of that information is confirmed on Ancestry.com. • Re: looking for any information
Further checking shows that Llewellyn was married on 3 Nov 1909 in Maine. He was residing at Sebeois Lake, Maine and he is in the 1910 Census there as well. They are also in the 1920 Census. Gertrude remarried to a Benjamin Chick Mitchell on 21 Aug 1827 in Maine. LLewellyn either died between 1920 and 1927 or was divorced (more probably the former). But I found no indication of any children. Even in the 1930 Census with Gertrude and Benjamin there are none.

Sorry but this link I posted above, requires sign in. This one doesn't: http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/View.jsp?id=20086&h...
  • Re: looking for any information
I am not certain if this is the Veinot family you are looking for information on, but it is the only one with a Llewelyn. This is the link for the 1901 Census: http://automatedgenealogy.com/uidlinks/LinkCentre.jsp?select...
If you click the link at the end line of each family member it will bring up the 1911 Census as well as any death and/or birth record I could find.

    Hope this helps.
  • Re: looking for any information
Hi, my research shows Llewellyn was born 13 Jan 1882. He immigrated to the states. You will see him in a 1920 census in Augusta, Kennebec, Maine married to a Gertrude Burwood. His father-in-law was living with them. He is also in the WW 1 Draft. He actually had 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Here is the 1920 Census link, http://search.ancestry.ca/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=1920usfedcen&am... and the WW1 Draft link, http://search.ancestry.ca/iexec/?htx=View&r=5543&dbi...
I haven't seen him anywhere else in tghe States.
  • Randel Baker
Looking for information on Randel Baker of Nova Scotia.
    b. Mar 29, 1904 Robinsons Corner N.S.
    d. Dec 28, 1960 Harriettsfield, N.S.
Married Dec 28, 1927 to Iona Mae Wilson in Bridgewater, N.S.
Randel Baker Mother: Effie Maud Baker 1881 - 1968 N.S.
    Randel Baker Father: unknown
Randel lived with his maternal grandparents Jacob and Marjorie Baker in Chester, Lunenburg, N.S.
I would like to know where Randel came from and I am assuming he was Effie Baker's son but have found no birth record so far. Randel never lived with his mother when she married 3 times. Effie Baker married James Norman Naus 1907, Fenwick Burton Langille 1918, and Arthur Sweet 1927 (all of N.S.). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
