Has the recession put your organization in a choke hold? Here's how to survive — even thrive — in the face of budget cuts, layoffs, and sub-zero morale.
Verizon, Comcast, AT&T and other large wireless carriers and cable companies appear to be lobbying state legislatures around the country to prohibit local governments from using federal stimulus money to build and manage their own broadband networks.
To fill in that giant hole the bear market left in your retirement plan, you'll likely have to work longer. But staying employed after 50, is tougher than ever.

Dunne - Family History & Genealogy Message Board
- Re: Dunne's from Kings County, Ireland & Quebec
I just obtained Tom's services records. It states his mother is Anne Dunne, however other pages refer to her as "Mrs. H. Dunne". He listed his father as his next of kin when he enlisted and I'm sure his father had passed by the time Tom was killed. Tom was granted 8 days leave in May 1916, so I'm guessing maybe he died then and went to the funeral?
It also says his mother is in "Monvane Port Arlington" (Portarlington).
I have attached Tom's portrait picture...any help is welcome, thank you. - Re: Dunnes in the British army
Interesting. Well, you never know. This side of the family for me are like ghosts. I have ordered Tom's service records and I'm hoping it has his mothers name in it somewhere.
Do you know a good place to search Irish records? I either find sites that aren't very good/limited or what seem like good sites -- but lack the specific county in Ireland I'm looking for. - Dunnes in the British army
This may be no help to you at present, but I draw your attention to my mother christened ANNIE PATRICIA DUNNE, born 22 Sep 1911 in the British military hospital in Cawnpore India.
I cannot help thinking that the similarity of her name and that of your great grandmother was more than coincidental.
I have posted these details in the past. Her surname comes from Sergeant WILLIAM ALEXANDER DUNNE, who was apparently born in 1874 and died in the same hospital three weeks before the birth. He was serving with the 1st (Royal) Dragoons in the cantonment of Muttra, where both his death and Annie Patricia’s birth were registered.
I offer a possible father to William, a Sergeant PATRICK DUNNE of the Royal Artillery. All my genealogy is provisional – lots of wishful speculation, for want of good evidence. On that basis it seems that Patrick was born in Ireland in 1844 (father William Dunne, a labourer). He married in November 1868 at Dover CATHERINE REARDON, born in Ireland in 1850 (father Timothy Reardon, a labourer). They were in the Dover garrison for the census of 1871, with daughter Mary. By the census of 1881, Catherine was a widow in Dover town with Mary, a second daughter and William.
It is enough to suppose that my mother was named to preserve a connection between my Sgt Dunne and your great grandmother.
But the mother in 1911, my grandmother, is a mystery. She called herself ANNIE MAUD POBJOY on the birth certificate. I have no evidence that she and Sgt Dunne were married. When she married in 1927, she gave her father’s name as RODEN. Neither the Pobjoy nor the Roden names have led to a convincing birth record for the lady. Her death certificate, when she died in 1929, indicated her birth year as 1876. With so much unreliable about her, I wonder if she was not older than that – or younger.
Your message sets me speculating again. Was Annie Maud a cousin of William’s, pregnant by an unnamed third party, for whom William was able to provide a cover-story ? In that case might it be she for whom the name Ann Patricia was significant ?
When your researches bear fruit, could you remember my putative forebears Patrick and William Dunne – and look out for any missing ladies in your family, perhaps an aunt to both your Ann Patricia and your Winnifred ? - Dunne's from Kings County, Ireland & Quebec
I'm trying to research the Dunne side of my family, as much of it is unknown. My great-grandmother, Ann Patricia Dunne was born 1887 in Ireland and had a younger brother named Tom who was born 1895 in Kings/Offaly. They also had a sister named Winnifred and a brother named Jerry/Gerry (probably a nickname) and their father was Denis Dunne, mothers name unknown.
The majority of information I have comes from Tom, as he served in WW1. His memorial page is: http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=collection... and someone posted a black and white picture of him and wrote he came to Canada in 1911 with two sisters. I'm assuming those sisters were my great-grandmother and Winnifred.
Tom was killed in action in 1916 and his page also states his father was deceased when Tom died. The page seems to suggest his mother is "D Dunne", but I think it's a mistake. They mistakenly have his DOB as 1885 and 1895 elsewhere, but it is 1895. He wrote "D Dunne" was his father (next of kin) on his attestation papers, so his father probably died between 1914 and 1916 in Ireland.
We know Winnifred moved to Vancouver at some point and anyone alive know doesn't remember hearing much about my great-grandmothers family. I'm fairly certain some or all of them moved to England years later. We also have a small autograph book which shows my g-grandmother visited England in 1921 (assuming she originally came in 1911) and came back to Canada on the SS Victorian in January.
I have pored over sites and everything I can find, but I haven't found any passenger lists (including on Canada Collections) or any links to the other Dunne's in Ireland/England or Vancouver. Any help is appreciated, thank you. - Re: Dunne - Kelly - Brennan - Cullen
Sorry, No luck. From what we know Margaret' Father was James, NS her mothe wasw a Mary Brennan or Cullen depending on what we were told. I live in the Philadelphia and several Margaret came through the port. - Re: Dunne - Kelly - Brennan - Cullen
Hi, do you have any info on Margaret Dunne?? I have a Margaret Dunne that went to the USA "possibly Philladelphia" according to letters. She was the daughter of Patrick Dunne & Maria Lowe. I am decended from her brother John Dunne who came out to Australia. Don't know if it's the same Margaret Dunne but would be good if it was 'cos then I would have a lead to follow on.
Thanks, Karen - Dunne - Kelly - Brennan - Cullen
My great grandfather Patrick Dunne along with his wife Bridget Kelly emigrated to the US (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) in 1883. Accompanying Bridget was Margaret Dunne (who subsequently moved to the New York area) Patrick's and Bridget's daughters Adelia, Margaret and Rosanna. Here is the problem I am facing oral family history has the Dunn's comming from MAYO, Kilkenny, and Dublin. Any suggestions? The inclusion of Brennan and Cullen is that there is a disagreement on the madin names of both Patrick's and Bridget's Mother. This is included for identification. - Re: Dunne (and Fallon) in County Laois (possibly Clonaslee)
Hello,
I have traced my ancestors to Clonaslee. William Dunne married Anne Delahaunty at the RC Church in Clonaslee, Laois, Ireland on 11 Nov 1860. They came to the USA in 1870 and settled in Vermont. They had 2 children in Ireland Mary and Charles.
The name Dunne lost they (E) when they came to the USA - Re: Denis Dunne from Ballyporeen
Hi Rita
Have lost your phone number so will get it from Mary. It would be good to get together and see what information you have gathered.

Hello Karen, Many thanks for your response to a desperate plea! Laura Jane WATSON (b.c.1840 USA) married Frank Read COLEMAN/SLOMAN (b.1838 G. Yarmouth, Nfk, Eng.) in Melbourne on 8 Feb 1875 in St Francis R.C.Church. (Laura Jane must have been the Catholic as Frank Read was C of E.) They had one daughter, Elizabeth Louisa COLEMAN born Melbourne 19 October 1876. Original Marriage Certificate states Laura Jane's birthplace as United States of America with what looks a bit like 'Maryland' crossed out. Have traced Frank Read's family back several generations but can find nothing at all on Laura Jane WATSON. No arrival in Australia. No marriage anywhere of a Louisa DUNNE to a William WATSON. No birth records in Baltimore or Philadelphia. Place
