- Obituary Request
Would appreciate a copy of the obituary for Bert Peterson, d. 12 Feb 1993, Kellerton. This is from his wife's obituary, I can't find him in the SSDI. Thank you. - John Walter/s born 1826 Ohio to Ringgold Iowa "HELP"
I am doing research on the family that came from Germany to Pennsylvania to Ohio to Ringgold Iowa. I descend from John Walter and Susan Swigart, their daughter Catharine(this name has been passed down for generations, although spelled differently). I am so confused right now its not funny. I have run across trees that say John's (1826) father is John (1798) and mother is Sarah Gnagy(1800). I was trying to track down on the US 1850 census John(1826) family and John (1798) family. I have found both but I now believe John (1826) is not the son of John(1798). My reason being is that John (1826) was married and living with his wife Susanah(Susan) and their daughter Harriet who was born in 1848, they lived in Springfield Lucas Ohio. I found them under ancestry.com under the last name Walters. Now for John (1798) his family I also found on ancestry.com under the last name Watters, but they have a John listed as living there same birthdate as my John. What I dont get is how my John can be included as living in 2 places at once. They also have his son Christian (Watters) born in 1840 in Ohio living with the Rickman family(I don't get that either). My John (1826) died at the early age of 37 around 1864, his wife died 2 years before that which left his 3 daughters orphans. My G. G. Grandmother Catharine was very young at the time and I found her living with Catharine and Edward Stuck in the 1870 census in Lotts Creek Ringgold Iowa. I believe Catharine Stuck to be John's(1798) daughter. I have not located Harriet or Mary Elizabeth in the 1870's census to see who they were living with, I assume they were married though. They both married Harrows from Iowa that resided between Iowa and Missouri so I assume they stayed with someone in those areas.
I will now give a breakdown of familys

3.Mary Elizabeth born Aug 30 1852 in Ohio. Married James S Harrow, They divorced sometime before 1900. She died in Souix City Clay Iowa. I also dont know if she remarried.
John Walter/s born 1798 in Pennsylvania married Sarah Gnagy born 1800 in Pennsylvania.
Their Children:
1.John G born 1826 in Ohio. Married Susan Swigart
2.Michael born 1823 in ohio died at the age of 21 died in Ohio.
3.Peter born 1825 Ohio died at the age of 34 in Iowa.
4.Catharine born 1828 Ohio married Edward Stuck died 1903 in Iowa.
5.Frances(Fanny) born 1831 in Ohio. Married Isaac Swigart. Died 1921 in Iowa. I know for sure she is Johns kid.
6.Elizabeth born in 1833 in Ohio. Married Peter Andrews. Died 1924 in Iowa. I know for sure she is Johns kid.
7.Ann*Anna*Annie*Anne born 1838 in Ohio. Married a Rearick. She died in 1888 in Ohio. I know for sure she is Johns kid.
8.Christian born in 1840 in Ohio. Married a Strayer. Died 1891 in Ohio. I know for sure he is Johns kid.
Any one who has been researching this family please help me with this. Also is there any way it could be a mixup on the 1850 census and they accidentally added John cause they were use to him being there since he had recently moved on with his family?
Thanks,

If you are still interested in your Fouser / Fauser ancestors from Wuerttemberg I can offer you my help as a local researcher living in Wuerttemberg. Please send me a mail directly to Markogen@aol.com
Regards, Martin - Samuel Skinner and Charity Straight
The subjects above are my great-great Grandparents on my maternal ancestry side. Do you have any information on these Skinners. My name is Charles Frank Palmer, I was born in Hanna, WY on April 11, 1935. My Grandfather Skinner's name was Francis Emanuel Skinner. He died Thermopolis, WY around 1941. - Re: Cutshall
Would this be Tiffany, daughter of Betty Gannan?
If so, my ex-husband Robert Gannan is her first cousin! I remember meeting your mom once--she was a very lovely lady.
Cheryl Pettigrew - Re: Cutshall
Sandy,
Hi! I was married to the son of Robert Earl Gannan, son of Samuel Francis, son of John & Miranda Justice Gannan. I have the research done by Aunt Kathleen Gard Gannan (wife of Francis Marion Gannan).
I am curious where you got the info that the family was from Ireland? I never heard Kathleen mention that info in all her extensive studying.
Also, the story of the name change because of brothers arguing was in the Cutshall side of the family, and you can find in--Gutshall, Cutshall, and Shall in other trees from that surname.
I know it has been a few years since you posted this. Have you found anything else? I still gather info for my children (4 girls!).

Hi. I found your post while searching for information on my grandmother, Verabel Mason. I thought you might find this article interesting: http://iagenweb.org/ringgold/obitht001/obit-scottwinfieldh.h.... I don't think the link will work, so you will most likely need to cut and paste. - Seek Photo of Old Soldiers Monument Dedication 4 Jul 1918
My gg grandfather, John Davis Carter (aka: Wheelhorse Carter)
attended the ceremony that day, as a veteran from the Civil War. The article indicates photos were taken with the old soldiers. There were 4 Civil War vets present; my gg grandfather was the oldest, at 94 and he passed away the next year. It was the Ellis C. Miller Post. The SURNAMES of those serving in post positions were: Bickett, Duncan, Holden, Osborn, Soles and White. Other vets were Judge Keller and Bernard Preston. My thanks for any leads and or efforts. - Re: Bush's
Dianne, I am interested in the name of the McLaughlin listed in the Guardian's Deed. You state he had custody of four Bush children. My gggrandfather lived in Ringgold Co. in 1905-1906 prior to moving to Letcher, SD. At about this time my ggrandmother had lost her husband to TB and am wondering if maybe she had turned the children over to her parents while dealing with his illiness and death. The children would have been Esther M., Madge I., George M., and Theodore O. Please let me know if this might be John McLaughlin. Thank you. - Re: SHAW/JOY
Hello Karen, Sorry, I just found this post. We have moved. You are right. My Great Grandmother married a Brace. They lived in Redwood Falls, MN. I have extensive information on the Brace family. I have a lot of information on her family up to her and not much further back. Please email me if you would like to share. birdlady1987@yahoo.com
Thanks.
Jolene - Re: McConnel FITCH, 1840 IN > 1883 IA
Am going to check that out this afternoon, Thanks for your help - Re: McConnel FITCH, 1840 IN > 1883 IA
The date of death is not entered on his pension card. The 1878 date is the date on which he filed a claim that he was an invalid.
Do you already have McConnel with his wife Mary and daughter in 1880 census? - Re: McConnel FITCH, 1840 IN > 1883 IA
Ok, so the June 18th, 1878 is that a date of death for a widows pens
