The two breweries have been collaborating for two years on this single beer, which they will market together and sell in both America and Germany. While the beer has yet to be named, we do know that it will be sold in bottles with corks and pack a punch with 10% alcohol.
It's fantastic to see a historical brewery like Weihenstephan (which dates back to 1040) teaming up with an American craft beer maker. But this may be the latest in the trend - traditional brewers from overseas have been looking to America's young craft brewers for new and innovative ways to make beer.
The craft beer revolution really began or at least made the most impact in America. And where countries like Germany, beer making follows a very strict tradition. Local bars and restaurants will also be lending a hand in the week's hosting duties. At the moment, over 100 events are slated to take place over the course of the week. But it's expected that more will be added as the week approaches. Attendees will have the chance to take part in everything from beer brunches to beer and cheese pairings to beer dinners, perhaps even following beer happy hours.
Los Angeles will be wrapping up their own first annual beer week on October 25. Perhaps they will have some tips for Southern California neighbor. Other cities who have recently or currently are hosting their first beer week include
