Even a major free-market economic crisis hasn't broken the love affair between business execs and their favorite free-market philosopher.

The reasons for the acquisition are muddled (and short-sighted at best), making it a foolhardy acquisition for Facebook, destined to join Skype (eBay), Blo.gs (Yahoo) and Friend Connect (Google) in the pantheon of failed Web 2.0 acquisitions.

Getting too much sleep can be as bad as too little. Here's how to determine the right amount for you.

  • Grasping at Straws -- HELP!
My husband's 4th g-grandmother was MARY POLLY SHULTZ (born abt 1795). She married BALSER (Bazil) DERRY in 1812 in Fayette Co., PA. Several old newspapers state that she was from the "same stock as old Gov. Shulze of PA".

Gov. Shulze was John Andrew Melchior SHULZE, son of Eve Elizabeth MUHLENBERG and Christopher Emanuel SCHULZE and grandson of Henry Melchior MUHLENBERG and AnnaMarie WEISER.

For 15 years I have never been able to find out who MARY's parents were. Rev. Emanual SHULTZE did not have any brothers. None of the MUHLENBERG and WEISER's married a SHULTZ.

Any suggestions as to how she could be part of "the stock" and family lineage of Governor SHULZE?

    Thank you so much!

  • Re: Steinert-Rozanski Genealogy
Hi Mark: I have been searching for a post from you for awhile now. I found Sophie Gottmoeller on ancestry about a year ago and have been emailing her for awhile. I am doing research into Stanly Rozanski who was married to Mary Steinert (Eva was her younger sister).
I am Gloria Rozanski, daughter of Anthony and Mary Rozanski
My Dad, Anthony was Mary Steinert-Rozanski's first living son.
Anyway, if you would care to email, and share information, I am reachable at perplexedmom@yahoo.com
I just recently found Stanley's death certificate and his ship's manifest, so I am going to see what I can find going backward.
    Hope to hear from you,
    Best Regards,
    Gloria Rozanski

  • Re: 2010 WEISER Family Reunion - PA
The Association and the reunion are for all descendants of Conrad Weiser the Elder (d. 1946), the father of Conrad Weiser the Indian intrepretor and ambassador in colonial Pennsylvania.
  • Re: 2010 WEISER Family Reunion - PA
Is tis reunion for all Weiser descendants or for a particular Weiser line?

  • Re: Fred Weiser by Wolfgang Weisser
What a wonderful remembrance of Fred by Wolfgang. I am the Paulette Weiser mentioned and my father Paul "Bud" Weiser. I have not communicated with Wolfgang or members of his family for a couple of years. Would love to hear from them again. We so enjoyed visiting them in their home in Stuttgart in 1988 with Fred and a group of Weiser cousins from all over the country, as well as Nina's visit to the U.S. in 1989. Her visit included the reunion of my father's family at the farm on which he was raised in No Dak, so she met about 220 cousins in one spot! They take place about every five years, and this is a reunion year. I first met Fred at the first such reunion in 1963.
  • Re: Sarah "Sallie" Weiser married to Michael Deppen
Perhaps you have already had an answer to your inquiry, but just in case, I helped Rev. Fred Weiser produce the 2-vol Weiser Families in America, publ in 1996. The set is still available from the Weiser Family Assoc for $160. Only about 60 are left.

Sarah Weiser was the dau of John and Catharine Fengel Weiser; John the son of Jabetz and Mary Elizabeth Wenger Weiser; Jabetz the son of Philip and Sophia Riem Weiser; and Philip the eldest child of John Conrad an Anna Eva Feg Weiser.
  • 2010 WEISER Family Reunion - PA
The Winter 2009 Weiser Family Newsletter, recently mailed to members of the Weiser Family Association, included a few tidbits about the big 2010 reunion. It is to be hailed as the 300th anniversary of the Weiser family in American (from 1710) and the 250th anniversary of Conrad Weiser's death (in 1760).

    Activities planned thus far include:

Thursday, 1 July 2010 - Picnic supper at Tim and Carol Weiser's home

Friday, 2 July 210 - Bus tour of Weiser related sites, catered evening meal

Saturday, 3 July 2010 - Weiser Homestead Park tour, auction of Weiser quilt, ceremony at Conrad and Anna Eva Weiser's graves

Sunday 4 July 2010 - Church service in Trappe, Pennsylvania

Quilters who wish to obtain fabric and complete blocks for the two quilts to be auctioned, may contact board member Paulette Weiser.
  • Re: Franklin S. Weiser of Penn.
This information concerning Franklin S. Weiser follows everything, but what is indicated on his tombstone at Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, Pa. The reverse side lists Franklin S. Weiser and his wife, Barbara S. Stahle. The east side lists: John Robert Weiser, Sallie Ann Weiser, Jacob Stahl Weiser - Children of Franklin S. & Barbara S, Weiser. The front side lists: My Parents - Benjamin Weiser, Catharine Weiser. The west side lists: George B. Weiser, M.D. The front and west sides appear to be older carvings then the back and east sides. It appears there is possible one of two explanations. Either, Franklin and his wife and three children were buried in this plot due to no room in John Jacob Weiser's plot or John Jacob and Sarah Kraber Weiser ar not his parents. Does anyone know?
  • Re: Sarah "Sallie" Weiser married to Michael Deppen
Sarah Weiser (WFA #CP331) is the oldest child of John Weiser (30 Nov 1779-29 May 1824) and his wife Catharine Fengel.

Briefly the line goes back to Conrad as follows:

    CP331 Sarah Weiser 18 Jan or Jun 1802 - 15 Feb 1891
    CP33 John Weiser 30 Nov 1779 - 29 May 1824
    CP3 Jabetz Weiser 3 Jul 1753 - 16 May 1829
    CP Philip Weiser 7 Sep 1722 - 27 Mar 1761
    C Conrad Weiser 2 Nov 1696 - 13 Jul 1760

I just discovered a typo in the 1996 Weiser Families in America book. On page 97 where Sarah is listed in one place the birth month is listed as "Jan" and in another it is "Jun". For what it's worth I have January in my data base. I'll have to check that out.

The Weiser book covers her descendants on pages 97 to 114.

If you want more detail email me at aachtert@icdc.com

  • Sarah "Sallie" Weiser married to Michael Deppen
I am looking for information on Sarah "Sallie" Weiser. She was born January 18, 1802 near Womelsdorf, PA and died February 15, 1891 in Toledo, Cumberland County, Illinois. She married Michael Deppen. He was born September 28, 1799 near Womelsdorf, PA and died September 29, 1869 in Toledo, Cumberland County, Indiana. One thing I would like to know is how she is related to Conrad Weiser. Also, any other information would be great.
