  • Re: benner family?
I am Linda Prickett, the oldest daughter of Larry Joseph Benner. I believe that we arae definitely relataed. I have some background information that I believe you will find interesting. Larry was the illegitimate son of Harry Jr. and Alberta Lombardelli. When he was seven years of age, his mother signed custody over to Shirley Benner. He had visited on a regular basis before this time. I received this information from his maternal aunt whom I located after he died. She often went with him to visit them in Wheelright, KY. The only other sibling she remembered was Paul Jennings. After he was sent to live in Wheelright, he was no longer permitted any contact with his Mother's family. He WAS raised by his Aunt Geraldine, but was not her son. We have his birth certificate which verifies this information. His aunt also verified much of this information. He lived in Wheelright from the time he was seven until he joined the Air Force at the age of seventeen. Sometime after he left the Air Force his grandmother Shirley died of cancer. My own mother actually met his grandfather after they were married, and I was present, though just a baby at the time. Shortly after, Harry Sr. died of black lung disease, due to exposure in the mines. At which time your grandmother Donna Gay contested the will. There was a long battle during which a large house her parents owned{possibly a retired senator's house?}which was later destroyed and it is believed that Paul was responsible because during the stress of the court batttle, his wife miscarried. My Father left for OK after this began and never had contact with his Harry Jr's family again. This is the information I have been given and you may be able to verify with your grandfather.

  • W. C. Benner in Indiana
    Hello,

I am looking for information on a W.C. Benner. He is buried in Richland Cemetery in Union County, IN. He is the only Benner that I know of being buried in that cemetery or in that county. There are several Benners buried in surrounding counties that trace back to Jacob Benner (1765-1852 / buried in Miamisburg OH), but I cannot make a connection to this W.C. Benner.

On the Tombstone, his dates are as follows: Birth: May 6, 1827 Death: Apr. 15, 1856.

When searching 1850 census records, I found a Washington C. Benner in Delaware County Indiana. He looks to be the son of Joseph (b.1795) and Elizabeth (b.1805). Washington C. was born in Indiana and his parents born in Pennsylvania.

Please let me know if you have any information on this Benner line.

    Thanks,
    Tim Benner

Montgomery County, Pennsylvania Deed Book, #3, p. 430 has the following information about the John Benner estate:
