    2008 European Capitals of Culture


    Come with Susan and Michael this week to Stavanger, Norway and Liverpool, England to discover all these two cities have in store for us starting in January as the 2008 European Capitals of Culture.

    The European City of Culture program was conceived in 1985 when the great Greek actress Melina Mercouri was Greece's Minister of Culture. Athens was the first city.  In 1999, it was renamed European Capital of Culture.  Paris, Genoa, Bruges, Helsinki, Lisbon, Madrid, Florence and Plague are among the designated cities

    Sarasota: A Small Town on Cultural Steroids

    This week "LET'S TRAVEL" visits the historic city of Sarasota on Florida's west coast. There's more to see and do here besides tanning on its sandy-white beaches and enjoying the warm-temperate climate this time of year. It's a city of Art and Opera, Music and Dance. As one of our guests, Martine Collier, put it: "Sarasota is a small town on cultural steroids."
