Inner Harbor Welcomes Santa's Inaugural Arrival
by Boat
Dancing!  Singing!  Fireworks!  Santa!  A crowd gathered at the Inner Harbor on November 21st to welcome Santa Claus who arrived by boat.

Santa was welcomed by Mayor Dixon, serenaded by The Heart of Maryland, a barbershop group, entertained by the ebullient Tap Dancing Santas from the Baltimore School for the Arts, and dazzled by fireworks shot over the Santa House.

Laurie Schwartz of the Waterfront Partnership was honored to be asked to MC the event with the Mayor, Christopher Schardt, senior general manager for Harborplace & The Gallery, and Santa.

After getting pictures with Santa, be ready to cross everyone off your list by holiday shopping at the Science Center and Aquarium gift shops, Harborplace stores, Barnes and Noble and Harbor East shops.

Waterfront Invasion Wins Maryland Tourism Award
The partnership between the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center, Visit Baltimore, and the Waterfront Partnership for the Waterfront Invasion was honored with the Industry Partnership Award at the Maryland Tourism Council's awards banquet on November 5 in Ocean City. The awards recognize outstanding achievements of individuals, businesses and organizations that help to develop and promote tourism on a regional and statewide basis.  The campaign helped the National Aquarium surpass projected attendance by 13 percent and nearly doubled the projections for Chinasaur ticket sales at the Maryland Science Center. The specially created micro-site received 55,000 visits and participating hotels booked nearly 900 Waterfront Invasion room night packages.
